Pixel8 Resources — Free Tool

Like pixelate,
but Pixel-8.

Drop in an image, paint over whatever shouldn't be public — a face, a licence plate, an account number — and pull down a clean PNG. It runs entirely in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

…or drop a file anywhere / press ⌘V to paste.

Redaction here is destructive: the exported PNG contains averaged blocks only, never the original pixels.

How it works

01 — Load

Drop, pick or paste

Your file is read straight into a canvas in this tab. There is no upload step, no queue and no copy sitting on someone's server.

02 — Paint

Freehand, lasso or box

Brush over a face the way you'd use a marker, lasso an irregular shape, or drag a box. Add and erase until the coverage is right.

03 — Export

Download a flat PNG

Blocks are averaged and baked in. Set the block size to control how coarse the result reads — bigger blocks, less recoverable detail.

About your files, and about these ads

Images are processed on your device and are never transmitted, stored or logged by Pixel8 — you can load this page, disconnect from the internet, and it still works. The ads on this page are served by Google, which does set its own cookies; see the Pixel8 privacy policy for details. One caveat worth knowing: pixelation is not magic. For a short, predictable secret like a 4-digit PIN, a determined person can test every candidate against the block pattern. Use large blocks — or a solid box — for anything that short.
